Karthi has a new task on hand

After taking on the might of dreaded dacoits of North India in ‘Khakee’, Tamil and Telugu actor Karthi will be fighting for the farmers’ woes in his upcoming film `Chinna Babu’ slated for release on July 13. Directed by Pandiraj, the film, based on a farmer’s story, is produced by Karthi’s brother Suriya and the Telugu distribution rights have been bought by Miryala Ravinder Reddy.

Recently, the entire team, including Suriya and his brother Karthi, promoted the film in Visakhapatnam. “The film highlights farmers’ issues, and so, they decided to promote it mostly in the rural areas rather than in a place like Hyderabad,” says a source, close to the unit.

Sayyesha is the female lead while Sathyaraj (of Kattappa fame) is playing an important role in the film. Sathru will be seen in a negative role. Although Karthi wanted to work with young director Pandiraj, who made the national award winning film ‘Pasanga’ , yet, it happened only now. “ ’Pasanga’ was a great film on parenting,’ he said and added “the title ‘Chinna Babu’ aptly fits since I have five elders sisters in this film,’ he added.
