New Delhi: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan here on Thursday announced Rs 500 crore for speeding up works for the supply of piped natural gas to Hyderabad. The works have remained stalled for long. He said it was unfortunate that the piped supply of natural gas had not been completed despite the constitution of Bhagyanagar Gas Limited in 2003 itself with the coming together of GAIL and HPCL.

Earlier, a delegation of Telangana BJP leaders under the leadership of Dr K Laxman, met the Minister and urged him to increase Ujwala Scheme quota for Telangana State. The priority districts should be Khammam, Warangal, Nalgonda, Adilabad, Mahbubnagar and Medak, they pleaded with him. In their memorandum to the Union Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu, the delegation sought early completion of the second phase of MMTS project and Gadwal-Raichur, Vishnupuram-Janpahad-Mellacheruvu railway line works.

Similarly doubling and tripling of the track works between Secunderabad-Khazipet, Secunderabad-Mahbubnagar, Raghavapuram-Mandamarri and Mancherial- Peddampet should be completed faster, they said. They also sought clearance for the all pending projects too. The delegation also met Union Minister, Ananthkumar to plead with him to instruct IDPL officials to open the road running through its premises for public to ease the problems of the locals in Prashant Nagar, Gandhinagar and Ranga Reddy Nagar colony.
