Hyderabad: DRDO Official Stabbed in City, A Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) official R K Satpathy was stabbed allegedly by a juvenile in the busy Charminar area in Old City on Sunday afternoon.

Hyderabad: A Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) official R K Satpathy was stabbed allegedly by a juvenile in the busy Charminar area in Old City on Sunday afternoon. He was immediately rushed to Osmania Hospital and his condition was stated to be out of danger, police said. Later Satpathy was shifted to Appollo Hospital for treatment.
Satpathy, Director of DRDO Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness, was on a visit to the city to attend a conference, according to Ravi Kumar Gupta, Director, Directorate of Public Interface, and DRDO. According to ACP D Venkat Narsaiah, a teenager, who was a known pickpocket and was said to be addicted to sniffing whitener, was chased and caught by a group of persons near Charminar area and was being beaten. The DRDO official was standing near and the boy while fleeing attacked him with an ‘ustra’ (shaving razor).
Based on CCTV footages, the police zeroed in on some suspects and rounded them up for questioning and are keeping a close tab in the area, DCP (South) Sarvashresth Tripathi said. He said the teenager managed to escape and efforts were being made to nab him.
