Five die as mud heap caves in, Four workers and a sub-contractor died when a large mound of earth caved in at Pulichintala project in Mellacheruvu mandal of Huzurnagar assembly segment in the district on Friday.
Nalgonda: Four workers and a sub-contractor died when a large mound of earth caved in at Pulichintala project in Mellacheruvu mandal of Huzurnagar assembly segment in the district on Friday. According to the police, the four workers – Khalid of UP, Subbu of West Bengal, Nandukole of Madhya Pradesh and Govinda Reddy of Vajannapalli village - along with the sub- contractor Gopalakrishna of Domalapetna in Mahbubnagar district were buried under the rubble while constructing a wall abutting the mound of earth near the project. All the five died on the spot. Police rushed to the place of mishap and undertook rescue operations but to no avail. Nalgonda district Joint Collector Hari Jawaharlal announced an immediate relief of Rs. 10,000 to the kin of the victims.
