Infant dumped on garbage heap

Nalgonda: A chilling scene of an infant writhing in pain on a garbage heap at Kattangur in the early hours of Tuesday gave shudders to the villagers. The day’s infant wailed uncontrollably attracting the attention of the entire village. Two women with their faces covered were seen by villagers walking toward garbage heap in the early hours with the infant in their hands. It was suspected that they could have dumped it because it happened to be the girl child. The eye-witnesses said the infant was wailing while trembling in the cold on the garbage heap.

On learning the horrific incident of the girl child being abandoned, officials of the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) arrived on the scene and handed it to children home after getting first to it.
