"The girl died of her burn injuries," Nilambari Jagdale, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana told PTI, adding that she had sustained 80 per cent burn injuries.
The girl was set on fire allegedly by six people in Dhandari Khurd area of Ludhiana last Thursday. Three of them were out on bail since last week after being arrested for allegedly raping her. The 16-year-old had lodged a rape complaint against them two months ago.
While three accused have been arrested, three are absconding.
