  • Woman dies after delivery; allege doctor’s negligence
  • Area hospital has no gynaecologist for long

Tadepalligudem (West Godavari): A housewife, Lakshmi, who hailed from Weaker Sections Colony in the town, died in the area hospital here on Thursday due to shortage of blood. She died two hours after delivering a boy.

Her relatives alleged doctor’s negligence while staging a demonstration. They demanded action against the doctor. Since the hospital did not have a gynaecologist, a doctor, Karuna, from Nidadavolu, was brought for performing surgery.

But none bothered about the woman as she faced severe shortage of blood.

With her condition turning serious, the doctor and the hospital staff tried to give blood. She died soon after.

The relatives and local residents expressed anguish that the hospital, which caters to the needs of people from
six mandals, has been for long without the services of a gynaecologist.

This, they stated, showed the administration’s negligence and lack of proper supervision of the hospital.
