Ten persons who were caught by \'SHE\' teams of the city police on the charge of sexually harassing women were awarded jail terms by the Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Nampally. While the ten were awarded three-day jail term, 47 were fined Rs 50 each. Sharing details on Friday about the performance of the SHE teams,
Hyderabad: Ten persons who were caught by 'SHE' teams of the city police on the charge of sexually harassing women were awarded jail terms by the Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Nampally. While the ten were awarded three-day jail term, 47 were fined Rs 50 each. Sharing details on Friday about the performance of the SHE teams, Additional Commissioner (Crimes & SIT) Swati Lakra said a total of 113 persons were caught by the teams so far.
“The offenders are aged between 17 and 45 years and were caught by our teams near bus stops, colleges, ladies hostels and picnic spots. We have produced 57 of them before the court,” Lakra said. “Our teams are also visiting colleges and impressing upon the managements to form internal committees to protect women from sexual harassment," the official said. “We appeal to all the citizens to give information regarding incident of eve-teasing through any of the modes like Dial 100, Facebook, e-mail ([email protected]) and Mobile Application ‘Hawkeye,” Lakra said.
