Dalit Thrashed By Girl’s Family. A 27-year-old youth from the Dalit community was severely thrashed by the members of a girl’s family in BK Guda, under Punjagutta police station limits for marrying the girl, police said on Sunday.
Hyderabad: A 27-year-old youth from the Dalit community was severely thrashed by the members of a girl’s family in BK Guda, under Punjagutta police station limits for marrying the girl, police said on Sunday.
The girl belonged to Goud community while the victim, a degree student from a private college, is from Dalit community.
According to police, Medda Ravikanth and Kottapally Ashwini had known each other for a couple of years and reportedly got married recently at a temple.
Shocked by the news of their marriage, the girl’s family members allegedly kidnapped Ravikanth on February 26 and detained him in a house at BK Guda area. They then took him to a gym and allegedly attacked him mercilessly with dumbbells which caused injuries to his internal organs, the victim’s parents alleged.
Based on a complaint by Yadaiah, boy’s father, police registered a case against Ramesh Goud, father of the girl. “He has been booked under relevant sections of the IPC,” inspector S Mohan said.
