#India’s Daughter Father Beats young woman black and blue on Bengaluru streets

Bengaluru crowd watched by a father beating up his own daughter in the middle of a street and no one made an attempt to stop the incident. The father, a Madurai based Police Sub-inspector suspected that his daughter who was employed in the city was apparently in a relationship and to teach her a lesson, he kicked her, beat her black and blue on the road while the mother watched as a mute spectator.

Even through the girl’s attempts to make her father listen to the truth, about 50 people just kept watching the incident, not making even a single attempt to stop the man.

The victim was only rescued after two female workers from a nearby firm wrestled him off the girl and locked her up in their car for over 30 minutes as the father refused to let them escape by placing himself on the top of the car bonnet.

The pictures of the incident were posted on Facebook by Nivedita Chakraborty, a city-based Program Manager at a tech firm. In her post, Nivedita said “Barely a few days since #IndiasDaughter stirred the world; we witnessed another shameful incident in Bangalore today".

Chakraborty said in her post that the father wanted to forcibly marry the girl to someone of their choice and take her back to Madurai against the wishes of the adult daughter while the mother who is a teacher kept blaming the daughter for having brought shame to the family.

While the police arrived 30 minutes later, the girl decided to let go of the matter saying they will sort out the issue. Hence no complaint was registered.
