1 killed, 23 injured as lorry runs amok
A cement-laden lorry went berserk killing one person and injuring 23 others in Peddemul mandal on Tuesday. The speeding lorry coming from Kothapalli ran over Kasappa (42) near Gazipur bus stand killing him on the spot. The driver increased the speed of the lorry after locals began chasing it. Tandur (Ranga Reddy): A cement-laden lorry went berserk killing one person and injuring 23 others in Peddemul mandal on Tuesday. The speeding lorry coming from Kothapalli ran over Kasappa (42) near Gazipur bus stand killing him on the spot. The driver increased the speed of the lorry after locals began chasing it. In the process, he hit a two-wheeler from behind near Kandenelly Tanda. Two persons, who were on the motorbike sustained serious injuries.
Unmindful of consequences, driver drove the lorry at a high speed towards Tandur and collided head on with an RTC bus coming in the opposite direction. The bus driver and 20 passengers received serious injuries. Locals, who arrived at the accident spot, handed over the lorry driver to the police. The bus driver and two persons, who were injured after the lorry hit their bike, were shifted to Hyderabad as they sustained severe injuries. The other injured passengers were shifted to Tandur government hospital. The police registered a case and took up investigation.
