Hyderabad: The Kulsumpura police on Friday said they had arrested a supervisor for allegedly concocting a robbery story and escaping with a cash of Rs 29 lakh, which was given by his employer for business transaction on April 8. Acting on a complaint from the employer, Lokeshwara, on April 9 that a cash of Rs 29 lakh was allegedly robbed of from Sudha Pavan Marella, his supervisor, a case was registered.

During investigation, police scoured through the surrounding areas and questioned a few people in the vicinity, but could not find anything supporting the genuineness of Marella's version. “He was nabbed on Friday at MG bus station while he was trying to escape following which he allegedly confessed to having concocted the story. At his instance, we approached Srinivas Reddy, friend of Marella, in Attapur where the latter kept the cash bag,” DCP (West) A Venkateshwara Rao said.

According to the police, Marella, who had been working with Lokeshwara for the past three months, had planned to flee with the money. After taking the money from his employer, he stole the money and gave it to Srinivas. As per the plan, he concocted a story of being attacked by goons at Panch Bhai Alawa and then fleeing with the cash.
