Parents allege murder by husband, in-laws

Hyderabad: A 28-year-old woman is alleged to have been murdered by her husband and in-laws. Her parents allege the death is made to look like a suicide. The incident came to light on Monday morning in Ramanthapur, police said.Ritu Sarin, a native of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand State, was married to Sachin Uppal, 30, a businessman from Himayathnagar, a couple of years ago. Ritu’s parents alleged that she was being harassed by her in-laws and husband for additional dowry after a few months in to the marriage.

Her mother, Ujjala said, “We gave cash and gold to our daughter when we married her to Sachin but that did not stop him harassing her. She was working as an air hostess before marriage.” She and her relatives went on to Sachin’s home in Indira Nagar in Ramanthapur and cried foul over Ritu’s sudden death.

“The couple fought on Sunday around 11.30 pm and she was found dead on Monday morning,” the cops said, adding that there were injury marks on her face and neck regions. The couple has a five-month-old boy. “Police is treating her death as suspicious and are awaiting the results of the forensic report to corroborate their version,” Uppal sub-inspector M Vikram Reddy, who is investigating the case, said, adding that a case has been registered under Section 302 (Murder) and 304B(Dowry death) of the IPC.
