Karimnagar: One person was killed and three others injured in a blast allegedly occurred when gelatin sticks went off in a house in Mamillawada area of Huzurabad mandal headquarters, on Wednesday evening. Mohammed Mathin,28, who suffered severe injuries in the blast, succumbed while undergoing treatment at MGM hospital, Warangal. Whereas, his family members Nielofer, Rasulbee and a small girl were undergoing treatment in the hospital.


According to police, a big blast occurred in the house of Mathin on Wednesday evening and members of the family were found in the pool of blood when the local people rushed to the site after hearing a deafening sound and immediately shifted injured to the hospital.


After getting information, police rushed to the spot and registered a case and are investigating. Though the family members claim that the blast occurred due to bursting of gas cylinder, but the scene of at the blast site, was giving a different picture. Police suspect that the blast would have occurred when gelatin sticks stored in the house went off.


Sources said that Mathin, who was working as a contractor, might have stored gelatin sticks in his house since those sticks were used to blast stones in digging wells. Speaking to The Hans India, Huzurabad DSP, P Sanjeev Kumar said that there was no clarity about the cause behind the blast at the moment. Family members were saying that gas cylinder went off but the scene of the site was giving a different picture, DSP said and added that more details would emerge only thorough investigation.
