Hyderabad: Eleven women housed at the State Home in Yousufguda escaped from the premises on Wednesday. They removed the rusted iron grills of the window in the kitchen room, located on the first floor of the building and sneaked out, according to police.


The Home Officials, who came to know about their escape at around 10 am, filed a complaint with the SR Nagar police station. They mentioned in the complaint that they did not find the inmates on the premises and of the 11 missing; six were from the rescue home while the remaining five from state children home.


“Women rescued from the streets, brothels and run-away girls are lodged at the rescue home. We are probing the matter and all angles are being investigated including the role of any insider who might have helped them escape from the Home,” ACP (Punjagutta) K Venkateshwarlu said.


The grills of the windows are old and rusted which they could easily bend and managed to sneak outside, the cops said adding that the women live in a deplorable condition with as many as 15 inmates crammed in one room.Senior officials of Women Development and Child Welfare Department (WDCW), who visited the spot, are likely to submit a preliminary report to the government about the incident.


In a similar fashion, three teenage girls, including two pregnant girls had escaped from the Home in the past by pulling off the iron grills of the room windows.
