Suicide attempt by‘honest’ cop
The Special Branch constable of Banjara Hills police station, G Narayana Rao, who was lauded by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao recently for his honesty, attempted suicide on Saturday. The incident, which sent shockwaves throughout the police department, happened close to the Banjara Hills, where Narayana allegedly consumed some pills in the afternoon. His colleagues immediately took him to a private hospital in Ameerpet.

It is believed that the constable faced regular harassment from a senior police official, forcing him to resort to the extreme step. In the month of March, the Chief Minister had personally invited him to his camp office and appreciated him for his honesty. During a routine job of passport verification, he had refused to accept a bribe for checking the veracity of the applicant’s information residing in Banjara Hills.
