Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a jilted lover went on a stabbing spree killing a girl to death who spurned his love and then stabbed her sister to death when she tried to save her. The incident took place at Commercial Tax Colony in Chaitanyapuri area on Tuesday morning when the sisters were alone at home, the police said.

According to police, the victims Sangireddy Srilekha, 21, a B Tech final year student of Sagar Institute of Technology at Chevella and her elder sister Sangireddy Yamini, 22, were taking coaching for a bank entrance examination.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning when the victims were in their house when the assailant, Amit Singh, a B Com student from Jagruthi College in Narayanaguda, came to their house and picked up an argument with Sri Lekha and finally took out a utility knife and repeatedly inflicted wounds on her stomach resulting in bleeding injuries.

As the victim ran out of the house to seek help from the tenants, Amit barged into the house and assaulted her sister Yamini who tried to go to the rescue of Srilekha. DCP (LB Nagar) Tafseer Iqbal said that Amit has been stalking Sri Lekha for the past couple of years.

Unable to bear the torture, she informed her parents who thereby complained to the police.

A tenant who stays on the first floor of the building came downstairs on hearing the commotion. He entered the house and caught Amit, but the latter pushed him and fled from the scene according to the DCP. Both of them were rushed to Omni Hospital but they succumbed to their injuries.

Both these girls are the daughters of Krishna Reddy, an RTC employee and Hymavathi, who works with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. They belong to Shadnagar in Mahabubnagar district. Both the parents had left for office on Tuesday around 8.30 am after which the incident took place. Police shifted the bodies to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
