This trend started from Guru Dutt who committed suicide by taking alcohol and sleeping pills. Varsha Bhosle, Manmohan Desai, Parveen Babi, to name a few, all committed suicide due to predictable reasons of heartbreaks, frustration and depression.

The moot point is that the life of bollywood actors appears to be luxurious, carefree and splendid, but deep down under they all experience an ugly period. Some of the film actors tried to bring to limelight the dark shades of the glamour world through their movies like Madhur Bhandarkar in his movie “Fashion”. It awakened the people and let the common man know the journey of stars from rags to riches.


It is not only the stars who commit suicide, but the star kids also jump the band wagon sometimes. So, what is the reason behind these suicides? It can be a tumultuous life, illness, unable to bear pressure and so on.

We see majority of the young generation who want to be in the shoes of the famous stars and celebs, but as the saying goes: uneasiness lies in the head that wears a crown”. On screen these stars are like kings and queens, but off-screen they are just like normal human beings with normal life and schedule, and we all encounter problems in our daily life.

The Ghajni girl, Nafisa was still in her 20’s and it is but obvious that she was not happy with her life which prompted to take her such an action. Sometimes people really do not want to commit suicide, they just want to escape from the situation, but the lack of support and commitment makes them take the extreme steps.

According to a survey it was revealed that people commit suicide when they are psychotic, depressed, impulsive or when they make a mistake. In case of psychotic reason they may be either bipolar or schizophrenics. Sometimes they cannot bear the weight of the Himalayan blunders they do and end their life.

Whatever be the reason, the results are disgusting, the families of these people have to face social stigma in addition to the unbearable pain. To wrap it up I should say that the families and the friends should keep an extra vigil on these bruised souls and give them extra love and care
