Mumbai: Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, who was investigating one of the country's most high profile murders, was on Tuesday shunted out along with four other officers.
Ahmed Javed, a 1980-batch IPS officer, took charge immediately as the city's top cop. Maria has been elevated to the rank of Director General, Home Guards.
The development comes even as Maria was heading the investigation in the Sheena Bora murder case that has made headlines for the past two weeks.
