Hyderabad: A 39-year-old labourer died after inhaling poisonous gas evolved from the chemical drums at Vasanta Chemical Factory in Jeedimetla Industrial Area on Wednesday.

According to the sources, Narasimha Rao (39), resident of Quthbullapur joined as a labourer at Vasanta Chemical Factory about three months ago. On Wednesday, Rao attended his duties during the second shift.

While moving the drums filled with some chemical, some poisonous gas evolved from them and he fell unconscious after inhaling the gas.

The fellow workers at the factory rushed him to a nearby private hospital for treatment where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The family members of Rao including his wife and two children staged protest in front of the factory demanding justice and approached the Jeedimetla police.

With the intervention of the police, the factory management accepted to pay an ex-gratia of Rs 12 lakh to the family of the deceased labourer.

The family members of the deceased person did not lodge complaint after receiving the compensation, the sources said.
