Hyderabad: The Kamathipura Police on Tuesday arrested four people for allegedly gang-raping a woman.

The accused have been identified as Shah Samiullah alias Mohd Asad (40), a realtor from Sayeedabad; Mohd Azeem Khan (32), a realtor from Bahadurpura; Mohd Shahzur (38) a businessman from Dabeerpura and Abdul Faheem (38), a businessman from Hussaini Alam.

The 33-year-old victim from Asif Nagar, a tailor, had lodged a complaint with the Kamatipura Police that on Saturday,

her friend Abdul has asked her to meet her at Panjagutta at around 8 pm on the pretext of showing textiles at cheaper rates.

While she was waiting to board a bus at Hyderabad Central X Roads, three people forced her into a car and took her to Rama Talkies Road in Bahadurpura where they raped her.

The woman filed a complaint the next day that she was kidnapped and raped but the police on Tuesday denied that she was kidnapped.

“Based on the complaint, we booked a case and sent the victim for medical examination and took the accused into custody.

During investigation, it was revealed that the woman was sexually harassed, but was not kidnapped,” clarified South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana.

The DCP said that a friend of one of the accused Mohd Fayaz from Tadbun, was leaving to Saudi Arabia on Sunday and that a party was being organised for him on Saturday.

This was when Abdul called the victim and picked her up from Punjagutta and took her to Bahadurpura where all the accused along with now absconding Fayaz raped the woman.

“The allegation of kidnap is false and the victim willingly went along with the accused, but the accused had sexual intercourse with the woman against her will,” the DCP said adding that the arrested will be produced in the court for judicial remand.
