Kurnool: Four children, who went a for a swim, drowned in a pond at Kosgi in Mahbubnagar district of Telangana near here on Monday.
The victims, Venkatesh, Boya Narasimhulu, Kuruva Narasimhulu and Boya Venkatesh, all about 10 years, were from Kadapalem street in Kosgi. They went to the pond along with two others for a picnic.
After reaching the pond, the group played for some time and later got into the water. “None of them knew how to swim. But they got into the water and drowned,” said a local.
Two others who were watching their friends disappear alerted a few passersby who rushed to the spot. However, by that time the boys had drowned. On receipt of information, police reached the spot.
