Girl kidnapped, raped by friend
A 19-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and was sexually assaulted by her friend, J Srinivas, who also happens to be her distant relative.
​Warangal: A 19-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and was sexually assaulted by her friend, J Srinivas, who also happens to be her distant relative.
The incident took place on Saturday. The victim, who managed to escape from the captivity on Sunday, informed her parents about the incident. The parents lodged a complaint with Hanamkonda police on Monday.
The police arrested the 22-year-old Srinivas, said the circle inspector A Sampath Rao. The girl completed her intermediate and now studying
in ITI. The accused used to drop the girl at her college and lend help to the family in the day to day household chores. On Saturday, he took the girl to a house of one of his friends, locked her up there and assaulted her sexually.
His friend was said to be away when incident took place. Srinivas threatened the girl not to reveal the incident anyone and cautioned her of serious consequences if she dared to complain to the police.
Cases under Nirbhaya Act, sections related to rape, kidnap and illegal confinement were booked against Srinivas. Meanwhile, the brother of the victim, S Sunil, attempted suicide at the police station by inflicting bleeding injuries on his neck and hands, demanding justice to his sister. The injuries were not life-threatening, the doctors at Hanamkonda hospital said.
