​Hyderabad: A woman and her son from Kenya were held by the Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday when they attempted to smuggle gold. The officials seized 1.5 kg gold from the mother-son duo.

According to the officials, the woman in her late 30’s along with her son arrived at RGIA in Shamshabad from Dubai on Thursday morning. As part of the regular checks at the Green Channel, the duo was asked go through the scanners.

When checked, it was found that that they were concealing eight gold bars in their undergarments. The duo had travelled from Kenya to Dubai and then to Hyderabad in an Emirates flight. The RGIA police arrested the duo and seized their passports and the seized property, said sources.
