Drunken man kills mother

​Hyderabad: The Meerpet police on Monday arrested a labourer on the charge of killing his mother as she denied giving money. The incident came to light when the accused tried to cremate his mother’s body.

According to Meerpet inspector N Ch Rangaswamy, accused B Kondaiah (45), is a native of Prakasam district. He migrated to city three years ago along with his mother Yadamma (80) and two brothers.

Kondaiah, an alcoholic, had lent some money to his friend and was depositing the interest amount to his mother. For the past six months, he stopped working and was asking his mother to return the money.
Yadamma had earlier sold her ancestral property and distributed money to his three sons.

“On Wednesday, he went to his mother’s house and demanded that she return the money. But, Yadamma, who was aware of Kondaiah’s vices, had refused to give money. Infuriated Kondaiah, went to her home during early hours on July 13. He kicked her when she opened the door.

When she fell down, Kondaiah gagged her with a cloth to prevent her from shouting and throttled her,” said inspector Rangaswamy.

Later, he changed his mother’s clothes and convinced his family members that she fell down and died of a head injury. His family members were convinced, but the neighbours suspected foul play and informed
police.

“A team rushed to the spot and when checked, an injury on her head and nail marks on her throat were noticed. Kondaiah was taken into custody.

During questioning, he confessed to having killed his mother for refused to give money. The accused has been sent to judicial remand,” said inspector Rangaswamy.
