​Karimnagar: A 23-year-old youth was arrested for stealing two-wheelers of police personnel that were parked at the police headquarters for the past two years. The One Town police nabbed him at Prathima Multiplex here on Monday.

According to Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy, the thief was identified as Gatla Pawan Kumar, son of Gangadhar, resident of Posanipet village of Kathalapur mandal in Jagtial district.

Pawan Kumar's brother Sudarshan is a constable at Jagtial and earlier he worked in Karimnagar and lived in police headquarters. Pawan Kumar used to visit his brother in Karimnagar.

To fulfil his personal need, he started lifting two-wheelers of police staff parked in front of the district guards office, police guest house and main gate, by wearing helmet.

The police identified Pawan Kumar after checking the CCTV footage and nabbed him and seized seven two-wheelers worth Rs 2 lakhs from him.

The Commissioner of Police appreciated the One Town ASIs E Kiran and P Narasigh, Head Constable U Mallaiah, constables K Raj Gopal Reddy, M Ramesh Babu and Ch Ramadan Reddy.
