Man killed in a freak mishap in Srirampur
A contract employee of Singareni Area Stores in Srirampur division died on the spot when iron rods fell on him from a crane on Thursday.
​Mancherial: A contract employee of Singareni Area Stores in Srirampur division died on the spot when iron rods fell on him from a crane on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Shankaraiah (55) of Srirampur. The officials allegedly shifted the body secretly to the Area Hospital without even noticing that his leg was severed as he was stuck under the rods that fell from the crane.
The family members of the deceased said that they got a phone call from the Singareni officials stating that Shankaraiah was slightly injured. They knew that he died on the spot only after coming to the hospital.
The family members staged a protest in front of the store demanding Rs 25 lakh from Singareni management and Rs 10 lakh from the Area Store contractor. They demanded suspension and action against those responsible for Shankaraiah’s death.
Shankaraiah was survived by two sons and a daughter. He was a regular employee in Singareni and his job was given to his second son after he became medically disqualified.
