12 kg ganja seized, 3 arrested
Bowenpally police arrested 3 persons who were transporting ganja on two-wheelers. During vehicle checking the police seized 12 kg ganja, which was being smuggled from Odisha. According to police, during vehicle checking at Old Bowenpally X Roads, three persons riding on Royal Enfield and Hero Karizmabikes tried to escape after noticing the police.
Hyderabad: Bowenpally police arrested 3 persons who were transporting ganja on two-wheelers. During vehicle checking the police seized 12 kg ganja, which was being smuggled from Odisha. According to police, during vehicle checking at Old Bowenpally X Roads, three persons riding on Royal Enfield and Hero Karizmabikes tried to escape after noticing the police.
The police chased and caught hold of them at a distance and found them in possession of ganja packets in their bags. Upon enquiry, it was found that the three accused Chakkali Krishna Praveen Kumar (41), resident of Moulali, TrilochanMahanti alias Sameer (26), resident of Qutbullapur and Somaraj (19), resident of Balanagar were transporting contraband on their bikes.
On thorough interrogation, it was elicited that the prime accused Nityananda Das (absconding) and the second accused Praveen Kumar met each other in the Cherlapally Central prison,when they were in Judicial remand for different cases. After being released from the jail, both decided to do business involving ganja, where they would transport, supply and sell ganja.
Nityananda Das used to procure ganja from Odisha in bulk quantities and transport the same to Hyderabad in trains. From Secunderabad railway station, Praveen Kumar and another co-accused TrilochanMahanthi used to transport the Ganja from Secunderabad railway station to different customers using various modes of transportation.
Mahanthi used to collect money from their customers, while the prime accused used to give them commission of about Rs 10,000 each after every deal. The fourth accused, Somaraj is also a sub-seller wherein he sells Ganja supplied by Praveen Kumar in small sachets for Rs 100 each. Efforts are on to arrest the absconding prime accused Nityananda Das.
