Hyderabad: The impasse over intermediate public examination has finally come to an end. The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) on Friday issued separate schedules for conducting Intermediate exams in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The Telangana government which has been pitching for separate examination outrightly rejected the proposal of Andhra Pradesh government for holding examination from March 11. It Secretary of the board to issue separate timetable for exams from March 9.

The AP government wanted to conduct common examination as separate examination in both the states would hamper chances of students getting into IITs and would affect inter weightage for Eamcet.

According to the schedule released by the Board, inter first year examinations would commence from March 9 in Telangana while in Andhra Pradesh it would begin from March 11. Second year exams would from March 10 in Telangana and March 12 in AP.

The students, who were in a state of confusion over the examinations, can now heave a sigh of relief with the release of the schedule.

While separate schedules have been released, both the governments did not specify about weightage of marks that would be allotted for EAMCET. To calculate a rank in EAMCET, 25 per cent weightage is given for inter marks. However, the governments did not specify whether they would retain weightage or how they calculate the weightage.

Experts felt that weightage in Eamcet will turn out to be knotty problem for officials of both the states. How can one be sure that question papers of the two states are equally tough? If one paper is easy and another is tough, it would be illogical to draw the same weightage from two different question papers for calculating rank for EAMCET.

According to timetable, the examination would commence with second language paper I and II on March 9 and March 10 respectively in Telangana, while in AP, it would be held on March 11 and 12. English paper-I and II would held on March 11 and 12 in TS and March 13 and 14 in AP. The first year examinations would conclude on March 26 in Telangana and in Andhra Pradesh on March 30. While second year exams would end on March 27 in Telangana and March 31. All the examinations would be held from 9 am to 12pm.

The board secretary said that ethics and human values and environmental education exams were proposed to be conducted on January 28 and 31 respectively from 10 am to 1pm.

According to broad secretary the practical examinations would begin from February 12 to March 4. The secretary said that regular courses timetable would be applicable for vocational course examinations too. However, the vocational courses time table would be issued, the secretary said.

According to the AP Reorganisation Act-2014, the two State governments have to adhere to common admissions for 10 years.
