Gone are the days when kids resorted to textbooks and their notes to study for their classes or even exams. Technology has brought about a change in a student’s outlook towards classwork and exams. Digitized learning has developed rapidly, equipping students with many skills and resources.
Several websites, videos and apps have emerged to enable all from toddlers to the elderly to learn and acquire knowledge. For instance, learning poems and playing with numbers has become easy and interesting for kids. Archana, mother of a six-year old girl says “My daughter has learnt everything from videos and new apps which have also made my work easier. Because of these new learning techniques, kids are able to remember what they’ve learnt for a long time as there are beautiful animated visuals to aid them.”
Exams are round the corner and senior students have taken to many websites made specifically to assist them with preparation. From detailed notes on conceptual topics to practice papers and lecture videos, the websites have everything that students require to ace their exams . Jayanthi, a teacher with Sister Nivedita School says “Technology has become very helpful when it comes to education. Students get exposed to a wider array of topics and at times can even independently coach themselves.
Websites made specifically for exam purposes are very advantageous as they prepare a student for the kind of questions that he may encounter during tests. Though this has increasingly drawn students to these websites, live interaction still holds its importance.” She also adds candidly, “We get to check every individual student and guide according to their ability which no website does”.
One of the websites that students following the NCERT syllabus rave about is meritnation.com. Students assure that the website makes studies fun and helps them score better grades. Like other such websites squarely targeting students, this too has beautifully animated videos that cover numerous topics. Detailed study material with revised notes and many more interactive activities are also provided.
Apart from these it also has practise papers to help prepare students for exams. Paramdeep, student of Class X says “Such websites have helped me increase my scores. Previously subjects were boring but the new way has helped pep up my spirits. I find myself less burdened even on the day of the exam. My confidence levels have increased”.
Vamshi Kumar, an intermediate student who is busy with many entrance exams says “The intermediate portion is actually easier. But one has to be aware of the type of questions being asked. Most of us know the answers but one has to be aware of twisted questions as well to score better. These websites provide us with numerous model papers while also providing solutions for previous papers”. He adds that such websites have made his work easier and that he is also able to concentrate on other entrance tests.
