In a commendable achievement, a 17-year-old student from Kalyanpur locality here has won over a crore rupee of scholarship to pursue engineering at the world’s famous Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US.

In a commendable achievement, a 17-year-old student from Kalyanpur locality here has won over a crore rupee of scholarship to pursue engineering at the world’s famous Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US.

Ayush Sharma, whose father is a mechanic at Public Works Department (PWD) and mother a retired CRPF constable, is a student at Kendriya Vidyalaya situated at IIT campus here, and has appeared in class XII examination this year.
Ayush qualified the TOEFL, the Test of English as a Foreign Language that enabled him to get the scholarship.
“I give credit for my success to my parents and students studying in IIT Kanpur who helped me in this journey,” says Ayush.
Ayush’s elated parents Rakesh Sharma and mother Manjulata Sharma said their son stood top in class X examination at his school and had been to Yale University to attend a 15-day programme there, when he was in class XI.
Ayush will leave for MIT in September. The scholarship amounts to more than a crore rupees over four years.
