Parent monkeys never know the problems of baby monkeys and so are the top management and CEO’s in most corporate who never knows the problems of the people. Parent monkeys never know the problems of baby monkeys and so are the top management and CEO’s in most corporate who never knows the problems of the people. Neither of them, either the parent monkey or the CEO’s, Directors and the ‘top bosses’ never offer any help to the people who are working in their own team.
Why the monkey comparison is so important for the corporate? The young ones of all animals in nature are well protected by their parents. This is true even for both ‘precocial’ (young ones born with the ability to run or jump) and ‘altricial’ (young ones born with eyes closed). None of the young ones ‘when they are born’ will have the responsibility to protect them or defend them. The only exception is baby monkeys.
The baby monkeys have to hold onto the mother monkey even from the very day of its birth. Only when it holds firmly the mother, it can be safe. So, ensuring the primary safety and security is the responsibility of the baby monkeys. Unless they hold the mother firmly, they cannot be safe. But such ‘responsibility’ is not there for any other young animals in nature, that too as soon as they are born.
Why nature is treating the baby monkeys differently when compared to the young ones of other animals. It needs to be understood more from the perspective of management than from science.
Monkeys are generally arboreal (animals that live on tree top) creatures. Moving around the tree canopy is always very tough when compared to the ‘terrestrial’ surface. One needs to be extremely careful and cautious while moving from one branch of a tree to another. Although ‘be on the tree top’ help the arboreal animals to see things around them clearly, but they also suffer from the disadvantage of getting seen easily by others.
When animals that has to be careful and cautious when they occupy the tree top space, they cannot take care of their own young ones properly. It is not due to the lack of love or intention, but it is not possible for them. When on the top, be always on the top is also pose another major challenge. Knowing their limitation fully well only, the young ones of monkeys are vested with the responsibility of guarding the ‘self’ by holding the mother animal firmly as soon as they are born.
Life of most CEO’s, Directors and the people occupying similar positions in most corporate are like the life of arboreal monkeys. Protecting and safe guarding the life (job security) of CEO’s and Directors in most corporate itself is a very big challenge. When their ‘very life’ and ‘existence’ itself is very challenging and risky, how they can help others. How, they can be kind and humane to others.
Very often, people used to complain that they have done so much to the CEO’s and Directors, worked like a donkey etc., but they are not as helpful and kind. They even go to the extent of complaining about them to be very selfish and self centered.
If you think you are a baby monkey, it is your duty to protect you and not the duty of your boss. They seldom help you in crisis not because they do not want to help you, but they cannot do so. When their life itself is in ‘crisis’, how can they render you a helping hand.
You being close to them do not warrant them to help you. Look at the life of baby monkeys. Parent- offspring equation, the baby monkeys never use to demand the parents to hold them. They instead support the parents by reducing their responsibility. Even from the day they are born; they take up the responsibility of holding onto the parents firmly.
Be like a ‘baby monkey’ in your responsibility. Secure your life and let that be your responsibility and never ever use your closeness with the top boss to protect you.
Learn from nature, be with nature and be wise by nature.
