As a verb, grit means to clench one’s teeth in pain, anger. The variants of grit are grits, gritting, and gritted. When you grit something you cover it up with grit, and grit is the grating sound such as when walked on sand, the grating or grinding sound. Grits is a plural noun. Grits is the coarsely ground corn, husked but unground oats.

Grit in Canada is the one belonging to Liberal Party of Canada. Grit one’s teeth means to clench one’s teeth together and tightly as a result of pain, anger, frustration, disappointment and other such feelings. When you grit your teeth, it means you are face up a difficult situation, a disagreeable situation and face it. Summon your grit, face the world.
