Naidu participates in a protest dharna against price spiral in essential commodities at Gun Park
Hyderabad : Telugu Desam Chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday slammed the government for escalating prices of essential commodities and vegetables. Participating in a protest dharna at Gun Park opposite Assembly here, he attributed the price rise to inefficiency of the Central and State governments.
He said though the Congress party had promised to bring down the prices within 100 days of coming to power in its election manifesto, it failed to do so. He said the TDP would take on the government for its anti-peoples policies. Since raising such issues in the Assembly was becoming difficult, the party would go to the people and expose the failure of the government, he said.
Expressing concern over the way Assembly proceedings were being conducted, he said primarily it was the responsibility of the government to run the House in a proper way. The TD chief alleged that Speaker N Manohar was resorting to frequent adjournment of the House.
Those leaders who participated in the programme include R Chandrasekhar Reddy, K Dayakar Reddy, E Dayakar Rao, M Narasimhulu, D Narendra, P Keshav, Rathnam, Uma Madhava Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod, Seethakka and others. Naidu also participated in a cooking programme taken up by TD women leaders at the Gun Park for some time.
The leaders sought the government to bring down prices, take measures to ensure reduction in vegetable prices in rythu bazars, and remove VAT on petrol and diesel.
