Union Minister of State for Tourism K. Chiranjeevi said that the UPA II government would come to power again for the third time in a row in the 2014 elections as the Congress had done a lot for the uplift of the poor and the downtrodden sections of the society. Participating in the Eruvaaka programme at Tadikonda in the district on Sunday, Chiranjeevi expressed happiness that he was able to participate in the Eruvaaka programme associated with the farming community. He said that the farmers were the backbone of the country and the nation would prosper only if the farmers prospered.

Praising the leadership qualities of Rahul Gandhi, Chiranjeevi said that Rahul knew the pulse of the people and he had a bright future. He said that farmers would prosper if Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister. He appealed to the people to vote for Congress and make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of the country. He said that the farmers who brought the green revolution in India should ensure that Andhra Pradesh remains as the rice bowl of the country. Speaking on the occasion, PCC President Botcha Satyanarayana said that the State Government, under the guidance of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, would implement welfare programmes meant for the farmers through the Eruvaaka programme.

Unveils statue of Kanneganti Hanumanthu Chiranjeeevi expressed his happiness over the unveiling of the statue of the eminent freedom fighter Kanneganti Hanumanthu, who had become a nightmare for the British rulers. Participating in the Eruvaaka programme on his first visit as Union Minister to Guntur on Sunday to unveil the statue of Hanumanthu, Chiranjeevi said that the present and future generations should know about the greatness of leaders like Hanumanthu and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule. He said that he was inspired by Phule in establishing the Praja Rajyam Party. He lauded the efforts of Agriculture Minister Kanna Lakshmi Narayana in the installation of the statue. Chiranjeevi also expressed satisfaction that there were several statues of Jyothirao Phule in Andhra Pradesh now as very few people knew about Phule earlier.

Speaking on the occasion, PCC President Botcha Satyanarayana lauded the role of Chiranjeevi in his efforts to bring about social equality. He said that Chiranjeevi was trying to bring changes in the mindsets of people and appealed to the people to extend a helping hand to the film actor turned political leader.
