The Paryatak Bhavan of the AP Tourism Department Corporation (APTDC), owes the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) an annual property tax of Rs 98 lakh. With the inclusion of arrears, the tax rounds up to an amount of Rs 1.2 crore. Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC, said that a team of tax collectors were constantly monitoring the development with the Paryatak Bhavan. When there was a no-show from the APTDC towards the payment of their taxes, the officials cracked down on the Paryatak Bhavan. It seized cash and movable assets from buildings such as 3 Innova cars, 6 computer systems, 1 sofa-set, 2 printers and 2 scanners. On Tuesday, the Paryatak Bhavan officials met Somesh Kumar and gave him a cheque of Rs 20 lakh leaving the APTDC with an debt of Rs 1 crore, with the GHMC.
