It is action time at Andhra Pradesh Football Association (APFA). In what can be described as a wise move, the Association is taking one step at a time, which augurs well because this would be a systematic method to go into the finer aspects, particularly after a tumultuous decade.

The over a decade wait seems to be bearing fruit as things are gradually falling into place.
Grossly impacted by internal squabbles and the craving for power in an open battle for one-upmanship, a clearer picture is emerging in the twin cities, which spells good tidings for all football players, more particularly for the budding players.
Association President Dr Md Al Rafath had promised soon after moving over to the new premises that they pursue the agenda they had charted.
The priority, according to him, was reviving 'B' and 'C' division league matches. This is good beginning because on a reasonable success they can go full throttle to revive the A division Rahim League and gradually help the sport get back to its top gear.
Meanwhile, they are attending to another shortcoming, which is certainly a bigger issue. The need to rope in qualified or qualitative referees has almost been thrust upon the administrators. In order to address this crucial issue, they are embarking on building a vibrant referees base. Towards this, they are conducting classes for the short-listed applicants.
According to G P Palguna, the Association Secretary, the refresher courses will be conducted in important centres, including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Anantpur and Visakhapatnam. The response has been 'pretty encouraging.' The first of the lot will commence in the APFA office by 7pm on April 2. The entire process will be overseen by qualified referees S A Salim and Hasham who can be contacted on Tel Nos: 77020-47017/98492-95035.
