With counting for the Assembly and Parlimentary seats scheduled to take place on May 16, the election authorities have come up with elaborate arrangements. Twenty-four counting tables have been arranged in each of the 12 Assembly and 12 Parliamentary counting centres. There would be a total of 36 rounds of counting with each round lasting up to 20 minutes.
Every counting table would seat three officials---counting supervisor, counting assistant and a micro observer. A barricading would be provided at the counting centres so that the polling agents and political party representatives could observe the activity from a distance.
The DEO said that all the counting centres would be ready by May 14 and the counting procedure would be taken up in a transparent and democratic manner. He added that all the necessary arrangements had been made with regard to law and order, in coordination with the City Police Commissioner.
