An awareness campaign week was organised from September 25 to October 2, during which ‘Sharmadan’ was conducted by all ranks and families in residential areas, parks and office premises.

The drive was taken up to clear drains and garbage bins in and around the area. Task teams from various units in the Army cantonment in Secunderabad and Golconda were formed to address these issues in various localities. Through lectures, education and mass awareness campaigns by Army health officers and unit health and hygiene teams, efforts were made to inculcate a sense of cleanliness among people to teach how to effectively dispose household garbage. Also, a painting competition was organised on October 1, on the theme ‘Swachh Bharat: Clean India, Green India’ for Army schools and Kendriya Vidyalaya school children followed by plantation drive in Bolaram.
