New food safety officer for SCB

M Devender was appointed as the new Food Safety Officer by the Secunderabad Cantonment Board on Friday. He is authorised for entry and seizure in any market, building, shop, stall or any other place in the Cantonment for inspecting any food article or drink. He would be the inspecting authority for reporting in applications for trade licences of food items.

Prior to the appointment, officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) were reported to be carrying out inspections even in the Cantonment area, which is outside their jurisdiction. From now on food inspection would be carried out by the designated official only and reports of the same would be intimated to the GHMC authorities.
