Contract workers demand job regularisation

Contract workers of the electricity department staged a dharna at Moula Ali substation donning black clothes. The workers demanded regularisation and direct payment of wages by discoms.

“Our services have to be regularised and we should be taken on rolls. If our demands aren’t met we will go on a strike. There are 2,200 contract employees and they have to be regularised,” demanded Venkat Reddy, president, contract workers union.
