Students should explore opportunities to showcase their creative skills besides focussing on getting good placements as there are ample opportunities for prospective entrepreneurs in the newly formed State, said Samana, managing director of Samana Institute of Fashion Technology.

Participating in `Cognition-2014’ organised by the communication skills department of Nalanda Degree College on Tuesday, Samana said students should actively participate in extracurricular activities to unearth their creativity and other skills.

“It would help them attain greater heights in career,” she said.

About 200 Intermediate students from various colleges in the city participated in quiz, elocution in Telugu and English, essay writing and other competitions organised as part of the event.

College principal Anuradha said Nalanda Vidyaniketan got the first prize in quiz contest. P Mohit of PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science was adjudged Mr Silver Tongue and Sabeena of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala bagged the Ms Silver Tongue in elocution. Meghana of Nalanda Vidyaniketan and K Srikanth of KBN College stood first and second in PowerPoint presentation (PPT). Cognition coordinator A Pavani and other faculty members were present.
