The Krishna district administration has zeroed in on 2.84 lakh farmers who will receive the benefit of loan waiver as promised by the State government. District collector M Raghunandana Rao told bankers that they have identified 2,84,509 farmers from the district who will receive the benefit. These farmers were listed after due verification of all records including the linkage of Aadhaar card and ration cards.

The district administration is holding Rythu Sadassu (farmers’ meet) in all villages upto December 16 to educate farmers on the loan waiver scheme. The collector asked the bankers to send their representatives to every meeting in the village and explain the process of loan waiver to farmers.

The collector directed the bankers to verify the bank accounts of the farmers and check whether they had multiple loan accounts on the same land from the same family members.

“Such accounts will be kept aside and genuine accounts would be taken into consideration for the loan waiver,” he said.

District joint collector J Murali, chief planning officer YRB Sarma, agriculture joint director V Narasimhulu, lead bank (Indian Bank) manager R V Narasimha Rao, Indian Bank deputy general manager MR Raghunadha Rao, Andhra Bank deputy general manager GSV Krishna Rao and other officials were present.
