College secretary S Rajith Kumar on Friday said that the seminar was aimed to educate students on the rapid advances made in the human genome project and stem cell research.

The departments of zoology, botany and chemistry of Kakaraparti Bhavanarayana (KBN) College, in association with the union ministry of science and technology, will organise an international conference on ‘Genomics - Stem Cells’ on January 6 and 7.

College secretary S Rajith Kumar on Friday said that the seminar was aimed to educate students on the rapid advances made in the human genome project and stem cell research. “Eminent scientists would speak on developing the resistance power in humans through stem cell research at the conference,” he said.

College principal V Narayana Rao said, “Members of the union ministry of science and technology; V Venkaiah, Vice-Chancellor of Krishna University; Acharya Balkrishan of Patanjali Group of Industries, Haridwar; GD Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Bilaspur University; and GSN Raju, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, would attend the inaugural session of the conference. Prof. MR Appa Rao of Krishna University and MV Baseveswara Rao, special officer of PG Centre, would attend the valedictory function. Representatives of Unique Bio Limited, SARC and JNTU would also participate in it.”
