A three-day workshop is being organised by the department of computer science and engineering on ‘Big-Data Analytics’ at Vignan University.
Swamy G of MindTree consultants said, “Big data analytics is the future. There will be lot of job opportunities in the next fifteen years. Huge amount of data is being generated from social networks, sensors, online business etc and this information is in unstructured form. In order to process this data, there is a need for special framework like Hadoop and ecosystems like Pig, Hive and Twister.”
“The government of India and AP are taking up a lot of initiatives towards digital India and smart cities and welfare scheme like Jan Dhan Yojana etc. All these will generate lot of data and it need to be processed to extract meaning full information,” said Dr L Rathaiah and advised participants to learn the course seriously by making the sessions more interactive.
Dr C Thangraj, Vice Chancellor, and Dr V Madhusudan Rao, Dean, engineering and management, stressed that applications in big data analytics has potential applications in healthcare industry, manufacturing, seismographic analysis, genome analysis, social networks etc. It was added that the department of science and technology initiated a big data initiative scheme for providing funds for conducting national level seminars, workshops, research projects etc.
Prof. N Gnaneswara Rao said that the department is starting the M Tech in big data analytics for the academic year of 2015-16 taking into consideration of market demand and numerous opportunities.
Prof. M Venkata rao, Dean, IQAC, explained about the challenges in architecture to store and access the big data, cloud and distributed computing programming models for big data analytics; design the algorithms with big data aids like Hadoop MapReduce.
