Surplus solar power can be generated if the private players in the industry are encouraged.”

Focus should be on adopting power saving and power efficient technologies,” he opined In his keynote address, Prof. M Basaveswara Rao, Dean of Sciences, Krishna University, underlined the need to promote the use of green energy for sustainable development. Emphasis should be laid on multi-layer solar cells to enhance the efficiency. These cells generate double the energy compared to conventional ones. Technology that helps in meeting the current energy demands should not affect the future generations,'' he said.
