Founder and Chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) G Viswanathan has underlined the need to increase the rate of enrolment in higher educational institutions in the country by encouraging students to go for further studies. Viswanathan said the rate of enrolment in higher educational institutions in developed countries was more than 95 per cent, whereas it was just 25 per cent in India.

“VIT, Vellore, is a pioneer in the field of engineering education in South India with a record number of placements, admissions and student credits. The VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) 2015 will be held from April 8 to 19. The last date for submission of applications has been extended to March 15. Students can book their date and time slot, which is convenient for them, to appear for the entrance examination,’’ he said.

Speaking about the specialities of the institute, he said, “VIT is offering a total of 53 programmes. Besides engineering courses, we are also offering regular B Com, BA and B Sc degree courses with a wide range of specialisations and business administration course. A good number of students from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are studying engineering at VIT.
