GHMC to involve all RWAs to improve slums
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar announced that the corporation is planning to involve all Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Slum Development Federations to improve slums in the city. The Commissioner held a review meeting with all the zonal commissioners and Deputy Commissioners and requested the RWAs to take up various civic infrastructure works
GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar announced that the corporation is planning to involve all Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Slum Development Federations to improve slums in the city. The Commissioner held a review meeting with all the zonal commissioners and Deputy Commissioners and requested the RWAs to take up various civic infrastructure works in their colonies so that the works can be taken in a phased manner to develop the city.
Somesh Kumar directed the officials to identify the civic works that need to be taken up in different colonies and slums in coordination with the associations. He said that the residents, who are willing to join hands with the GHMC, should be identified. The GHMC will also deploy Quality Control Cell to check the quality of the works for proper development of the works in that particular colony.
The Commissioner also asked the town planning, engineering and other wings of the GHMC to constitute a committee to take up various developmental works based on proposals of the committee. He added that one committee at least must visit four colonies a day to put up the proposals for development of the colony.
