All I can say is, read on!”

A cheesy match

Stuck in the kitchen during an on-going cricket match? Never! Majority of the fans are glued to their screen and prefer to order food (48 per cent) rather than cooking their meal or stepping out for a dinner/ lunch. Friends, sharing and lots of cheese…what’s not to like? No ‘cheesy’ surprises here – Pizza was voted as the most preferred meal while watching a match, beating other popular items like burgers and pastas, as well as a full course meal and finger food.

Watching cricket an expensive affair?

Not really.. Indians live up to their superb bargaining skills, and an ‘always on’ attitude when it comes to deals and discounts. 63 per cent of the overall respondents always check the web for discounts while ordering food and drinks to enjoy a value-for-money IPL match. Bangalore (36 per cent), Hyderabad (37 per cent) and Chennai (30per cent) emerged as big spenders.

Getting high on cricket

When the passion for cricket and love for food comes together, Indians jump into an emotional buzz. They don’t need alcohol to enjoy the match as 76 per cent of Indians confess that cricket is enough to give them a high.

Bowled over by food

The cricket syndrome emerges victorious over the healthy diet, as over 43 per cent respondents accepted that they munch on anything - without thinking about calories, while watching a match. Only 25 per cent voted that they follow their diet strictly, and 31per cent don’t believe in diets at all!
