5 day Silk India Expo commences

Silk India Expo-2015 was inaugurated by film actress Alekhya at Sri Sesha Sai Kalyana Vedika in the city on Thursday. Weavers and artisans from 21 States set up 60 stalls at the five-day expo being organised by Hastashilpi showcasing a wide range of pure silk and cotton fabrics, silk and handloom saris, dress material, semi-stitched salwars, bed linen, artificial jewellery and footwear.

Hand printed and hand embroidered fabrics and exclusive bridal silk saris were also displayed at the expo. Silk saris in an array of hues and exquisite designs are available at the expo with the prices starting from Rs 2,000. The bridal collections of silk saris are from a price range of Rs 25,000 and Rs 60,000.

Expo organiser Abhinandan said, “Hastashilpi has come to Vijayawada for the first time bringing the best collection of silk and cotton fabrics from all over the country. The aim of Hastashilpi is to promote direct dealings between the producer and the consumer which benefits the both as middlemen are not involved in the process. A flat 20 per cent discount will be offered on all fabrics at the expo. The entry is free.”
